Part 3. Chironominae
The final volume of 'A World Catalogue of Chironomidae (Diptera)', Part 3 includes taxonomic names of Chironomidae in the subfamily Chironominae compiled from a review of published literature from 1758 to 31 December 2025, including data obtained from online internet resources. Information is given for 3,951 species-level taxa in the four currently recognised tribes of the subfamily Chironominae: Chironomini (86 genera, 2,185 species level taxa), Pseudochironomini (6 genera, 67 species level taxa), Tanytarsini (26 genera, 1,025 species-level taxa) and Xiaomyiini (2 genera, 3 species-level taxa). Approximately 671 species-level taxa are documented nomina dubia. Original type-locality data (if specified) are cited and distribution data are given for each valid species by country and zoogeographical region(s) of occurrence. A comprehensive bibliography of source publications, with dates of publication, where possible, is given.
